After : Chapter 1 BRINGS THE ANNA TODD’s BOOK-BASED SERIES TO WHERE IT ALL STARTS. After brings plenty of gasps, teenage drama, self discovery and humor and also a super easy to love ‘bad boy’. This film based on books are known for generating a multitude of reactions out of readers and film critics. In this first part they set the stage for Tessa and Hardin tumultuous romance. We follow Tessa in fast paced way (like in the books) through this new chapter in her life. Tessa is a dedicated student whose entire world changes when she meets “mysterious & sexy “ Hardin.
Hardin is totally taken with Tessa after their first meeting where she hurts his ego. As I said before the pace of this movie is fast you end up asking where the 106 minutes go. As it moves the characters special Hardin (Hero Finnes-Tiffin) takes you to a moody roller coaster ride. And Tessa (Josephine Landford) explores her sexuality. Gage brings actual artistry meaning to this subject leaving it so PG13 and I wish we had seen more because the books totally consumed me but I also know they wanted to attract a younger audience as well.
From a cinematic standpoint, director Jenny Gage does an admirable job with the visual composition of the film and it has a competent and well-crafted visual. The soundtrack is lovely and you find yourself jamming the songs right there in your seat. As for the dialogue which isn’t that complicated more simple and little Susan McMartin delivers a playful tune, even flirting with a naughty sugarcoat level. Eventually the fun starts to go away as the emotions and chemistry get more intense and the Secrets starts to come out.
As book reader, I have to say that my favorite part was Hardin (Hero Fiennes Tiffin) wow he really surprise me a lot and really make feel what he was going through even though we don’t get his full background but his performance is fascinating. Hero’s actions and his eyes can say it all.
From a cinematic POV this is Essentially PG13 Version Of Fifty Shades of Grey. So all of you who didn’t had the pleasure to go to the cinemas for FSOG this is your CHANCE!! (Imagine hero’s voice saying Chance with his British accent)
Whether After is a success or not remains to be seen, but US fans of the Todd's book series will get to see the adaptation for ourselves after waiting for it for many years. Now go with your friends and enjoy the movie.
AFTER: AQUI COMIENZA TODO! LLEVA LA SERIE BASADA EN LOS LIBROS DE ANNA TODD A DONDE COMIENZA TODO. AFTER trae muchos jadeos, drama adolescente, autodescubrimiento y humor, y también un "chico malo" muy fácil de amar. Estas películas basada en libros son conocidas por generar una multitud de reacciones de lectores y críticos de cine.
En esta primera parte, prepararon el escenario para el tumultuoso romance de Tessa y Hardin. Seguimos a Tessa de manera rápida (como en los libros) en esta nueva etapa de autodescubrimiento. Tessa es una estudiante dedicada cuyo mundo entero cambia cuando conoce a Hardin, "misterioso y sexy". Hardin queda totalmente fascinado con Tessa después de su primer encuentro. Como dije antes, el ritmo de esta película es rápido y terminas preguntándote a dónde quedaron los 106 minutos. A medida que va avanzando, los personajes especialmente Hardin (Hero Finnes-Tiffin) te llevan a una montaña rusa de cambios de humor. Y nuestra Tessa (Josephine Landford) explora su sexualidad. Gage aporta un significado artístico real a este tema, desde un punto de vista bien discreto para la audiencia. Yo desearía haber visto más porque los libros me consumieron por completo, pero también sé que querían atraer a un público más joven.
Desde un punto de vista cinematográfico, la directora Jenny Gage hace un trabajo admirable con la composición visual de la película y tiene una imagen visual competente y bien elaborada. La banda sonora es encantadora y te encuentras murmurando las canciones justo allí en tu asiento. En cuanto al diálogo, que no es tan complicado y algo breve, Susan McMartin ofrece una melodía juguetona, incluso coquetona con un nivel travieso sin ser vulgar. Con el tiempo la diversión empieza a desaparecer. A medida que las emociones y la química se vuelven más intensas y los Secretos comienzan a aparecer. Como lectora de libros, debo decir que mi parte favorita fue Hardin (Hero Fiennes Tiffin). Realmente me sorprendió mucho y el me hizo sentir por lo que estaba pasando, dolor y pelea interna constante, a pesar de que no conocemos todos sus antecedentes, pero su actuación es fascinante. Las acciones de Hero y sus ojos pueden decirlo todo.
Como cinefolo te puedo decir que After es esencialmente una versión PG13 De Cincuenta Sombras De Grey (eso no me molesta para nada ya que soy fan de Grey) Así que todos ustedes que no tuvieron el placer de ir a los cines para FSOG, ¡esta es su OPORTUNIDAD! (Imagina la voz del Hero diciendo esto con su accento Britanico)
Si After es un éxito o no, aún está por verse, pero NOSOTROS los fanáticos de la serie de libros de Todd podremos ver la adaptación por nuestra cuenta después de haberla esperado por muchos años. Ahora ve con tus amigos y disfruta de la película.
