Review: The Last Straw

BY ED DUNCAN

ED DUNCAN'S THE LAST STRAW draws deeper to a crime thriller scene filled with suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat as the story unfold!

I had previously read and reviewed Pigeon-Blood Red by Ed Duncan and I really loved it and I think you would love too because Rico is so fascinating. Plus Ed's writing style is seductive, enchanting and just brilliant!

Sandra is a teenager that has witnessed a carjacking which resulted in a man being shot and killed. That makes her the target of a crime boss that wants to silence her.

Paul Elliott is the attorney, who lives in Sandra's building. Sandra's father ask him for advice and then her father is killed in an attempt. Paul tries to keep Sandra safe while trying to figure out who is after them. He tries to understand in how much danger is everyone connected to this case in.

RICO (my favorite) is the best of the best! He is asked to take Sandra out of this but he also has to deal with his own problems and make justice to who attacked the his friend. Rico has his own codes and ways to deal with things. He only wants justice and has to deal with his nemesis.

Both stories line up so perfectly that's just so amazing. the characters are so easy to like and catch up with them. Through all the reading you realize there's more of these characters than what the eye can see. It takes a really good writer to bring such a great character as Rico and Ed really did here!!

1. The plot twist that you never expect but is there and brings more revelations.

2. RICO's ethics, is likable and he cares about other characters in the book and keeps his word.

3. It's a fast read, you keep turning the pages.

4. Ed Duncan's writing style is so fantastic! It's so easy to read and very realistic.

5. The action and suspense is so well done and I just can't wait to see what he writes next!

There's an intense between Rico and his nemesis that is to palpable. Plus we get another side of Jean and Rico's relationship and how they works as a couple. From there, the story unravels wildly. I’m still reeling from all the twists! If you’re looking for a great thriller this is!! don't think anymore. Just make THE LAST STRAW your next read. You won’t be able to put it down and you’ll certainly enjoy it!
