Available NOW!

Pretty Scars, Carrie Drazen’s long awaited love story from New York Times

bestselling author CD Reiss, is available now!

In Carrie Drazen’s diamond-studded world, beauty is everything: a blessing, a commodity, and a curse. Her beauty got her past the velvet ropes and into New York’s high society, but it ripped her away from the man she loved and chained her to an unbearable life.

Then, in a single night, a song played by a mysterious and secretive musician carries her back to a past ripe with possibilities, when love could open any door. Who is this anonymous performer?

How can a man she’s never met tell the story of a boy she loved with such precision?

She needs to know. But sometimes masks exist for a reason, and this unveiling could scar them both.

About CD Reiss

CD Reiss is a New York Times bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn't pick up she's at the well hauling buckets. Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her masters degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels. She's frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn't ever gotten her out of chopping that cord of wood. If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.

My thoughts

An alternative version of Romeo and Juliette with a second chance love story but overall a story of hope with that feel-good read that is not to be missed!

Every now and again, I crave second chance at love story that can speak to my heart and to awake my hopes. A story that will fill me up with angst, tears, smiles, awe moments and with some much hope. Unfortunately, finding that kind of book is not an easy feat. It’s difficult to achieve the right kind of balance of emotion, beauty, feels romance, and angst for it to work well. Thankfully, CD Reiss manages that and more in this love, hope, and heartwarming story —Pretty Scars. The writing style is so easy and flows beautifully with the characters and music that surrounds them. It felt so real… and the elements of romance, music, hard to get, dreams, hope, and second chances are all here just the perfect amounts to have me flipping the pages.

I loved how down to earth, sweet and talented Carrie is. However, I had to get the whole picture of who she really was to come to love her. Through the chapters, we discover who she is and she finds herself as well. I felt for a full of dreams, talented and a charismatic Gabriel that had the most beautiful lines to make me smile while a tear was rolling down my cheek. I also hated Gabriel many times and felt he wasn’t doing enough or what I wanted. All I can say is that it takes a great author to make you love and hate a character. Peter well he’s a memorable character but not for the right reasons. He was so clinically obsessed and mean ... I just wanted to punch his face on a daily basis but he’s just there to do his job and does a good one.

Their love story wasn’t a perfect one but it was a real one... two opposites worlds at some point that somehow worked and waited for the world to put the chords together to finally unleash.

Overall, The author takes us on a ride from past to present and C.D Reiss does it magically. In the beginning, is hard to adjust but then it just blends unfolding this story so well that at one point I felt I was there. I’m more than grateful for how the author invited me to be part of this story. Thanks, C.D Reiss for speaking to my soul and hopes. This a highly recommended book and I can’t wait to read more from C.D. Reiss.
